Distribution Manager
An opening exists in the Book Fairs Division for the position of Distribution Manager reporting to the Director of Branch Operations. The salary range being offered for this role is $85,000-$95,000.
Work Location: This position works out of our Surrey branch located at 2468 192 St Surrey, BC.
Role Summary
The Distribution Manager is responsible for managing all facets of the branch operational business, ensuring efficient and cost-effective distribution, and labour management. In partnership with all divisional teams, provide directive and branch insight to ensure efficient Customer fulfillment, and optimal performance.
Primary Responsibilities
• Guide and support branch employees while fostering a positive work environment.
• Responsible for overseeing the progress of the team, ensuring that employees feel valued and motivated in their roles.
• Recruit, train and provide guidance to all branch staff ensuring awareness of Company policies and procedures, with a key focus on health and safety.
• Encourage and maintain cooperative relationships with staff and all divisional leaders/teams, as it pertains to branch insight and business volumes.
• In collaboration with divisional leadership, establish yearly operating budgets, quarterly business reforecasts, and financial branch performance analysis.
• Monitor business volumes to ensure all aspects of fulfillment are handled on time, correctly and cost-effectively.
• Engage in ongoing self-reflection and continue to advance knowledge and skills related to diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Recognizes diversity and inclusion as an important aspect of the work environment by supporting new ideas and different perspectives, promoting cross-cultural awareness, and creating a safe environment for difficult conversations.
• Determine cost effective logistics agreements, planning and shipping methods for branch territories.
• Participate in head office/Sales meetings to review business volumes and provide operational insight, as needed.
• Provide support, input and direction into the operational growth and performance of Scholastic Book Fairs by participating in management calls, meetings and attending annual divisional conferences.
• Participate in other duties and special projects as required to support the business.
Qualifications
• Post-secondary education.
• 5-7 years of progressive Distribution experience
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Knowledge of AS400 and Salesforce (or similar CRM system), an asset
• Knowledge of Oracle Transportation or similar, an asset
• Flexibility to travel when necessary.

Sales & Marketing Intern, French
An opening exists in the Trade Division for the position of Trade French, Sales and Marketing Intern reporting to the Marketing Specialist, French. This is a paid internship opportunity – interns will be compensated at a rate of $17.60/ hour.
Work Location: Ideally, the successful candidate will be able to work from our downtown Toronto office at 2 Bloor Street West as needed. However, we are seeking a strong French-speaking candidate and are open to remote applicants based in Canada. Please note that all remote candidates must be available to work during Eastern Standard Time (EST) hours.
Primary Responsibilities
Digital Marketing and Publicity Outreach:
• Supporting creations and mailing of PR kits
• Supporting Influencer mailing and outreach.
• Copywriting for advertisements, activity sheets, newsletters, and more.
• Creating social media assets and helping with writing posts.
• Researching market and trends, broadly and on social media.
• Updates for French website
Team Collaboration and Administrative Support:
• Participating in weekly team and department meetings – brainstorming, researching, note-taking,
• Supporting preparation for sales conference meetings: PowerPoint creation and note-taking.

Qualifications

Publishing Intern
An opening exists in the Publishing Division for the position of Publishing Intern reporting to the Publishing Project Manager. This is a paid internship opportunity – interns will be compensated at a rate of $17.60/ hour.
Work Location: This position works out of our Toronto downtown office located at 2 Bloor Street West. Expectation is that the office is this person’s primary work location, with flexibility for some days at home.
Role Summary
The Publishing Intern will work closely with the Publishing Project Manager to complete various administrative and editorial work. These tasks include metadata maintenance and creative editorial work.
Primary Responsibilities
• Assisting the editorial assistant with content creation for web projects; award submissions; author and affiliate mailings; preparing for Trade sales conference; organizing digital archives of various materials
• Assisting editors with reviewing solicited and unsolicited manuscripts; providing editors with reader responses to these submissions; fact checking
• Assisting the Publishing project manager with various metadata tasks such as updating master data management for frontlist and backlist titles; running reports on metadata values
• Attending production and editorial meetings as well as publishing/marketing meetings
• Other duties as assigned

Education Intern
An opening exists in the Education Divisions for the position of Education Intern reporting to the Director of Education Publishing. This is a paid internship opportunity – interns will be compensated at a rate of $17.60/ hour.
Work Location: This is a remote internship. The chosen candidate must be located in Canada and available to work during Eastern Standard Time (EST) hours. Applicants located in the GTA/ Toronto area will have the opportunity to visit our downtown Toronto office and warehouse in Markham.
Role Summary
The Education Intern will work closely with the Director of Education Publishing to complete various administrative and editorial work. These tasks include metadata maintenance, creative editorial work, development and tracking of student and teacher print and digital content.
Primary Responsibilities
• Assisting with various developmental tasks such as reviewing, copyedit, or proofread manuscript, updating tracking charts, checking editorial and design changes, photo research, rights checks,
• Assisting with the maintenance of product support websites (reviewing and updating links, adding new content etc.) in WordPress
• Assisting with archiving of print ready files
• Attending publishing, production, and product specific meetings
• Assist Marketing by reviewing/copyediting content on ecommerce site and marketing collateral
• Other duties as assigned.

Sales Manager
An opening exists in the Book Fairs Division for the position of Sales Manager reporting to Vice President, Book Fairs. The salary range being offered for this position is $85,000-90,000.
Work Location: This role offers a hybrid work arrangement. While most work can be completed remotely, the successful candidate should be able to come into Scholastic Canada’s offices when required.
Primary Responsibilities
• Working with the Vice President of Book Fairs to determine long-term and short-term strategies to expand market share and maximize growth in the Book fairs business via Fair Count and Average Revenue per Fair.
• Assist in regular Fair Count and Average per Fair budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights and recommendation based on identified trends in bookings, prospecting, cancellations, etc.
• Ensuring clear communication of strategy, goals, targets, and KPIs, while tracking progress toward established sales targets and maintaining a strong, cohesive team culture. Creating an environment of accountability, collaboration, inclusiveness and shared success.
• Work closely with Customer Service leadership to shape the full customer experience, including call coaching programs, training and development opportunities, and process enhancement to facilitate divisional goals.
• Providing ongoing performance analytics and progress summaries to Executive and cross-channel stakeholders.
• Coordinating with the business operating systems team to develop impactful dashboards and reporting that support initiatives and track effectiveness of sales strategies.
• Developing, implementing, and monitoring prospecting and information gathering strategies, interpreting results and feedback to determine appropriate adjustments in support of business development goals.
• Identifying new business opportunities/strategies and partnerships that expand market reach, increase revenue and center Scholastic Canada’s Corporate Diversity, Equity and Inclusion goals.
• Collaborating with divisional sales management team leaders on cross-channel organizational goals and sales strategy alignment.
• Conducting ongoing one on one meetings with Sales Supervisor and Lead Consultants to assess performance, progress, and uncover trends in customer behaviour.
• Addressing customer escalations and reviewing customer feedback to determine opportunities for program and support improvement.
• Attending in-person meetings, on-site trainings, conferences, tradeshows, etc. as needed.
• Participating in required Book Fair conference calls, meetings, training sessions both internal and internationally.
• Collaborating with Distribution Managers on all Sales/Operations fair requirements and sales objectives.
• Willingness to travel locally (Toronto/GTA) to attend events and in person meetings as required.
• Other duties/special projects as required.
Qualifications
• 5-7 years of proven sales experience, team leadership, and strong people management experience.
• Must understand and adhere to inclusive leadership best practices; experience leading a fully remote team is an asset.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to multitask and work effectively in a deadline driven environment
• Exceptional organizational abilities with experience with sales management
• Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills; experience with cross cultural communication is essential.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (including PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams), and Google Suite (Google Slides, Drive); experience with Salesforce is also essential
• Ability to submit and maintain a current Vulnerable Sector Check.
