Scholastic Canada | Classrooms Care

Thank you for making a difference by reading!

The 2022 program is now closed. Thanks to you, Scholastic was able to donate 100,000 books to children in need across Canada. With this program, we continue to ensure all children across Canada get access to books they can own so they can build a lifelong love of reading.

Contest winners will be selected on June 1, 2022.

Please visit us in early 2023 for next year’s program updates.

“I want to encourage all of you to keep reading–especially if you’re having challenges. Find things that you’re interested in and look for things you love, because that’s what made the difference for me.”

In 2019, Scholastic launched the Dog Man "Do Good” campaign. Inspired by the characters and themes in Dav Pilkey’s worldwide bestselling graphic novel series, the initiative encourages readers of all ages to give back, in any way they can, and make a positive impact in their communities.

Highlights of the campaign included Dav Pilkey’s “Do Good” global tour. At each of the tour stops, there was a philanthropic component, whether a book drive or a donation to a worthy cause. Small acts that helped in big ways.

In 2020, unable to tour during the pandemic, Dav created a series of “Learn at Home” videos to provide comfort and support to kids and families who found themselves housebound as well. In these videos, he teaches kids how to unleash their own creativity and how to find solace in books, in making art, and in telling their own stories. Just one more way they can contribute something good to the world.

With this spirit in mind, we are proud to once again partner our Classrooms Care program, with the Do Good campaign as a reminder that reading for pleasure not only enriches the lives of students, but that this small act will also make a difference in the lives of children who don’t have the same access to books.

With the help of classrooms across Canada, our goal is to donate 100,000 books to children who need them most. Join us in this mission by registering below.
