King of the Skies
by Rukhsana Khan
illustrated by Laura Fernandez
and Rick Jacobson

I can't walk.
And I can't run.
But I can fly . . .

One day each spring a boy launches his fighting kite into the air. He has worked on it all year, perfecting every detail to make his kite the very best - the one that can capture all the others. Not even the huge kite of the boy next door can match his . . . for on this special day, he is king of the skies!

About the Author
King of the Skies came to writer Rukhsana Khan one spring morning in Lahore, Pakistan, as she stood on a rooftop watching the kite fighters practising their lifts and dives. She also is the author of Bedtime Ba-a-a-lk, The Roses in My Carpets, and Muslim Child. Rukhsana lives in Toronto, Ontario with her family.
