Planning Kit
A few weeks before your Festival du Livre, you will receive a comprehensive planning kit including Festival du Livre flyers for parents and promotional materials to help you promote your event.
As Easy as 1-2-3!
Our Instruction Guide comes complete with everything you need to run a successful and rewarding Book Fair event. Guidelines are very easy to follow and our consultants are always available to answer your questions.
Our Instructional Guide helps you organize and plan your Festival du Livre and is key to providing an exciting and memorable event.
No Inventory Necessary
Your committee will want to create a fun event and for this reason we have developed an inventory-free system and made the operational procedures as easy as possible. You never need to count your book inventory! We will send you a predetermined selection, you plan the sale, and then simply send us back any books remaining – at our expense!
Merchandising and Decorating
When you think of a festival, you imagine bright colours and an exciting, magical atmosphere. Holding a Festival du Livre is all that, with the added benefit of the magic of children’s literature. Your decorating committee will have a wonderful time creating a fun event that will feature the books and products to their best advantage.
How should you display the boxes of books you receive to make them as appealing as possible? Don’t worry, it’s very easy! All you need is a touch of imagination, a plan and ideas taken from your Instruction Guide and this website.
Find a few tables; long, square, small or even some unused desks. Cover them with the cloths provided. If you need more table covers, simply use some paper ones or ask your volunteers to bring tablecloths from home.
Place the empty book boxes (or any other boxes) on tables and build displays or shelves with them. Cover with table covers. Place books by category to make them easier to identify and use the supplied category signs to showcase the product.
Invite your team to use a specific, exciting theme for your Festival du Livre. Become inspired by the school’s education projects or themes used during the year.
Decorate your event room with colourful balloons tied to a cord. Get inspiration from the current season to decorate your Festival du Livre. Autumn can be represented with multicoloured leaves. Halloween and the Holidays provide a lot of decorating ideas. Thinking of a Christmas Festival? Install garlands and lights around your Fair entrance and add cardboard Christmas trees. Spring also brings inspiration opportunities; Valentine’s day for book lovers, Easter for egg-citing reading ideas and, of course, the end of the school year for summer reading fun!
Place reduced-price books in a separate location with a poster that reads: “No Reorders!”
Place special kits in a basket or a plastic bin.
A display made from a few boxes decorated with wrapping paper is an ideal way to feature special books. It will easily attract the attention of your guests.

Visa, MasterCard and American Express
The Festival du Livre is attentive to the needs of its schools
and we work constantly to improve our service. We have introduced the credit
card program after many school requests to do so. All necessary material
and complete instructions on this program – so you can accept Visa,
MasterCard and American Express payments – will be forwarded to you.
Volunteers
Plan for a minimum of 3 volunteers. Planning your Festival du Livre, decorating, set-up of your event room and help during the Festival are all beneficial volunteer activities. Once your Festival du Livre is over, your volunteers can help you place unsold books back in their boxes and clean up the room. You will surely appreciate their help.
Have a Goal
Do you want to motivate your team? Tell them about your goal and prepare a poster with a visual indicator, such as a thermometer, to clearly illustrate your progress.
Checkout Operations
An important element of your Festival du Livre is your cashier table. Volunteers can be asked to handle cash, prepaid orders and display of posters and school supplies. The best location for your cashier table is either near the exit of the Festival du Livre event room, or in the corridor next to your Fair. We invite you to use the list below to make sure that nothing is forgotten:

Keep the box of school supplies and the price list close by the checkout area to refer to it as required. You can also display a copy of this list near the supplies box to indicate prices to your customers.
If you’re concerned about ‘sticky hands’, you can tape a sample of each item directly on the table and keep the box behind the counter.
