Summary:
Ethan Munroe is faced with some difficult choices. He likes to draw and hang out at this favourite coffee shop, The Edge. There he meets Kat who likes his work and invites him to work with her on a computer game. However, at Kat's house, Ethan is introduced to marijuana. He feels conflict about trying it but his own friends seem to be ignoring him so Kat and her friends seem at first more interesting. Eventually, Ethan sees that Kat is just using him to protect her real boyfriend. In the end, Ethan realizes he can trust his step-father to help him. |

Summary:
Ethan hangs out at The Edge drawing in his sketchbook. There he sees Shelby, the girl he likes, with his friend, Damon. He is upset, but then meets Kat, who asks him out.

Summary:
Ethan and Kat go to the Carnival on their first date. Kat shares her ideas for developing a video game and asks Ethan to work on it with her because he is such a good artist. |

Summary:
While Ethan and his friend, Carlos, play some one-on-one basketball, Carlos notices that something is different about Ethan. Ethan confesses that he went out with Kat Matthews. Carlos warns Ethan to be careful because Kat is connected to Ray Brady, a known drug dealer. |

Summary:

Summary:
Ethan wakes up on Saturday morning with a smile on his face. He has three phone messages. When he calls Kat, her dad says she is out with her boyfriend; when he calls Carlos, his mom says he is away at a basketball tournament. Ethan's parents go out, so he visits his dad, only to find that his dad is away at a sales meeting. |

Summary:
After driving around, Ethan goes to The Edge to sketch. He meets Kat's friend, Tamiko, who thinks Ethan is a nice guy. Kat shows up and wants to talk. |

Summary:
Kat and Ethan have an honest talk. Ethan asks about Kat's ex-boyfriend, Ray, and about using drugs. |

Chapter Eight—The Mighty Zoltan
Summary:
Ethan and Kat get together to talk about developing the video game. While taking a break, Kat smokes a joint to get more creative. Ethan resists at first, then succumbs. |

Summary:
Ethan smokes his first joint with Kat and has a strange reaction. When he gets home at nine o'clock and jumps into bed to avoid detection, his mother becomes suspicious. |

Ethan has a paranoid attack and hides in the bushes. He grabs Kat when she comes out. Kat tells Ethan about people's reaction to drugs. She doesn't seem dedicated to completing the video game. |

Summary:
Ethan's stepfather accuses him of using drugs. Paul calmly relates the facts and changes that have been noticed in Ethan's behaviour. Ethan is in denial. Paul leaves the offer of help available. |

Chapter Seventeen—They Just Don't Get It
Summary:
Ethan skips out, brushes off his friends, and meets Kat to work on the video game. She tries to put him off. |

Chapter Eighteen—Return of the Dark Prince
Summary:
Kat and Ethan work on the game. Ethan notices that the sketches made while he was high do not make sense. They hope to get some inspiration to continue by getting high again. Ethan goes home to get some money and Kat makes a call to Ray. |

Chapter Nineteen—Dial-a-Dope
Summary:
Kat and Ray go to The Edge to pick up the drugs from Ray but his supply has not arrived yet. When they go outside, Ethan notices two dark cars pull up. Ethan feels uneasy. |

Chapter Twenty—Big, Black Boots
Summary:
Ethan, Ray, and Kat get picked up by the police. They are cuffed and taken downtown. |

Chapter Twenty-One—The End?
Summary:
Ethan is questioned by the police and realizes that Kat and Ray have double-crossed him. He finds out Ray is a big-time drug dealer. Kat takes Ray's side and leaves Ethan in the lurch. |
